The 40th Guinness Cork Jazz Festival To Kick Off This Friday
The hugely anticipated 40th Guinness Cork Jazz Festival will see some amazing, award winning musicians perform on stages all over the city for the 2017 Festival.
Kicking off on Emmet Place, outside the Cork Opera House, on Friday October 27th, from 6pm, a FREE open air concert will start the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival Weekend. Open to all, it’s sure to be a musical masterpiece with two of Ireland’s best singer songwriters, Paddy Casey and Brian Deady taking to the stage.
The ever popular Guinness Cork Jazz Parade will be unleashing its fantastic talents on the streets of the city on the afternoon of 28th of October. Come and experience untamed performances from over 350 of Ireland’s best street artists. The parade thrives on collaboration, blending creativity with The Fringe, CIT Cork School of Music, Buí Bolg, and other dedicated creators. Starting at 1pm on the Grand Parade, the parade snakes through the streets of the city until it reaches Emmet Place at 2.30pm. When one-piece finishes, the next begins, with spellbinding stage performances on the outdoor stage on Emmet Place taking place from 2.30 to 6.30pm.
And all that jazzing is sure to work up an appetite, be sure to sink your teeth into the Inaugural Taste Jazz - an extension of the Taste of Cork Festival that commences on Monday October 23rd and runs right into the Cork Jazz Festival weekend. Taste Jazz is jointly presented by Festival Cork and Diageo, and will celebrate the fusion of food and jazz, with bespoke food experiences from some of Ireland’s best chefs and local food producers paired with Guinness and Diageo crafted cocktails. Expect Pop-up restaurant evenings, live jazz music performances at restaurants, special events and jazz cafés across the city.
