Two Cork Venues Shortlisted for IMRO Venue of the Year!
Cork Venues The Crane Lane Theatre and Coughlan's have made the cut!
The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) run an awards programme every year to crown the best Live Music Venue of the Year. This year three of the rebel countys' most cherished gig spots have made the cut!
The Crane Lane Theatre, Levis, Ballydehob and 2013 overall winner Coughlan's have made the shortlist for Munster Venue of the year, as well as being in with a shot of winning the grand prize of National Live Music Venue of the Year for 2015. , They are flying the flag for Munster amongst others greats such as 2014 winners Dolan's of Limerick and The Greyhound in Co Clare.
It's truly amazing to know that in the last two years of the awards, two Munster venues; Coughlan's and Dolan's, have come out on top of venues like Dublins' Three Arena. Does that mean that the public are looking for more fulfilment than being a drop in the ocean in a larger venue? Because the awards are chosen based on a public vote, the trend certainly indicates that the punters are looking for a more hands on experience given in our charming intimate venues.

Along with one overall award for National Live Music Venue of the Year, awards will be presented to the leading live music venues in the following regions: Dublin, Leinster (excluding Dublin) Connacht, Munster and Ulster (covering Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan). In addition to this IMRO members have been nominating their top music festival choices and one Irish music festival will receive the IMRO Music Festival of the Year award.
