Megan Connolly signs first professional contract
Cork soccer star Megan Connolly has a new club.
The Ireland international has put pen to paper with Brighton and Hove Albion until the end of the season.
It's the 21 year old's first professional contract, having spent the last number of years on a scholarship with Florida State University, playing football with the Florida State Seminoles.
Speaking about the announcement on her Twitter page, Connolly said
"I have dreamed of becoming a professional footballer my whole life which makes me so excited to announce that I have officially signed my first professional contract with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this journey!!!"
Albion manager Hope Powell told BrightonAndHoveAlbion.com
"We are delighted to bring in a young player of Megan’s quality to the club.
“She has enjoyed a successful career playing college football out in the States, and already has senior international experience with Ireland.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Megan, and would like to welcome her to the club."
Connolly could make her debut away to Manchester City in tomorrow's FA Women’s Super League.
