Ardú Street Art project recently announced their return with some of the country’s most exciting street artists brightening up Cork city’s streets from now until October 15th. Commissioning artwork from home grown talent of the highest level is the main aim of Ardú. The 2021 edition features four large scale murals by renowned artists: Friz at St Finbarr’s Road, Shane O’Malley at Lower Glanmire Road/Horgan’s Quay, Conor Harrington at Bishop Lucey Park, and Asbestos at South Main Street. Friz’s piece is nearly completed and start dates for the remaining artists will be announced soon on Ardú’s social media. The public are invited to visit the mural sites while the artists’ work, observe their process and finished pieces, and also get involved at an exciting series of hands-on activities at Wandesford Quay Courtyard – which are supported by Backwater Artists Group, Cork Printmakers, the Lavit Gallery and Cork City Council Arts Office through the Arts Council of Ireland's In The Open – Faoin Spéir award. Peter is Co- organiser of Ardú part 2 along with Shane O'Driscoll who is also organising this initiative attempting to bring life back to the City in the form of street art and large scale murals that are painted by Cork and Irish based artists. Artist Friz is commissioning a special print to mark Ardú 2021 and the support at Cork Printmakers. The print will be available to purchase.
