1,000 Cork Farmers Left Out Of Pocket Since October Due To I-T Glitch

Farmers say they can’t afford to wait for the GLAS payments owed to them since October.

Over 9000 farmers are due payments under the environmental GLAS scheme with 1,000 of them based in Cork.. .

3,400 farmers across Cork applied for a GLAS payment last year and 950 of them have yet to receive any of their 2016 payment despite having passed all the pre-payment checks.

Farmers say they have to defer bills and vital farm upgrades because the money they were promised still has not been paid.

The Department of Agriculture has blamed an IT problem for the delay.
