138 Extra Hospital Beds Approved For Cork Hospitals
The Echo reports the delivery of the beds is important to Taoiseach Micheál Martin
The Mercy University Hospital is to get a new 30-bed ward, a new 48 bed block will be built at Mallow General Hospital and an extra 60 long-stay nursing home beds will be come on stream at St Mary's Campus in Gurranabraher.
Operating Theatres at the Mercy will also be refurbished as part of a €20 million plan with work set to begin next month.
The project at Mallow will facilitate an increase in elective surgeries while the paper says the extension at St Mary's is also expected to begin in the New Year
