19 People Arrested In Dublin Following A Second Night Of Trouble In City Centre

Gardaí say a group of around 200 young people threw glass bottles at officers on South Anne Street, and the public order unit cleared crowds from the area
Gardai came under fire again in Temple Bar Square - a number of streets were sealed off and 19 people were arrested for public order offences, including two aged under 18.
10 people have been charged and will appear in court at a later date.
Dublin's Lord Mayor Hazel Chu says it's a small group of people involved in the anti-social behaviour:
"I think it was appalling because the previous night there were instances on South William Street, but let's be very clear here, it seems like, as per the Garda statement, a minority of people. So it was a group of 200, I think, as per their statement, so it's not everyone so again we need to maintain public space for everyone to use and use safely. It seems like there's a good few bad eggs among a bunch so we need to make sure we keep that in control."
