30KM/H speed limits to be introduced in five North Cork Estates
30 KM/H speed limits are to be introduced on a pilot basis in five North Cork Housing Estates. The speed limit is being rolled out on a pilot basis in two estates in Kanturk, one in Mallow, Banteer and Millstreet during the year in order to help reduce speed and improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and especially children. This initiative, which is being implemented nationwide in all local authorities on a pilot basis arises from a circular issued by the Transport Minister late last year in a response to a public call for lower speed limits in housing estates throughout the country. Jake Brennan was a 6-year-old boy who was knocked down by a car and died in his mothers' arms outside his home in Co Kilkenny on June 12th last year... Speaking to RedFM News Jake's Mum Roseanne says this initiative menas her little boy didn't die in vain The list of the 5 North Cork Housing Estates Gouldshill Estate, Mallow Eagle View, Banteer Drishane View, Millstreet St. Theresa's Place, Kanturk Dr. Pat O' Callaghan Park, Kanturk Press PLAY button above to listen to the audio
