The thefts happened across housing estates in  Belgooly, Riverstick and Clonakilty where most of the cars were unlocked.

Gardai say the gang were looking for cashor property that can be quickly sold on such as laptops, tools, or sports equipment.

Over the weekend a number of cars were broken into in Ballincollig, Douglas, and Togher.

Around €340 thousand euro worth of property is stolen from vehicles each year.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in West Cork on Sunday night into Monday morning to contact them and are urging listeners to ensure they take their property with them before parking and locking their cars in a secure and well-lit location
