400 March In Cork City To Highlight Homelessness

Demonstrations got underway at 2pm yesterday afternoon

The constitutional right to a home was one of the main issues being called upon at march in Cork city yesterday.

Around 400 demonstrators walked from Grand Parade urging the Government to address the homeless crisis. 

There were a number of speakers from different community groups highlighting the recent record homeless figures.

While, Residents of the Leeside Apartments - who recently  underwent an long running struggle to prevent their own evictions - led out the march.

President of the Cork Council of Trade Unions, Barry Murphy, says action needs to be taken now:
