43 Inmates At Cork Prison Given Temporary Release Due To Overcrowding 

The Echo reports that three of those released had threatened or attempted to murder. 

Cork Prison is designed to house 296 inmates, however following the temporary releases, there are still 301 prisoners at the facility. 

The Irish Prison service says 12 prisoners jailed for drug offences were among 45 given temporary release on Thursday. 

Nine were in prison for theft, seven were jailed for road traffic offences and one for fraud.
