4,700 People In Cork Stuck In Passport Backlog
3,900 are for renewals with 800 first time applications
That's according to information provided to Cork TD, Michael Moynihan.
Currently 89,000 passport applications are awaiting processing, over half of which are from outside Ireland.
On Thursday, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, deemed passport production an essential service in the hope that the backlog can be cleared faster than is the case at the moment.
