5 Cork Schools Will Undergo Remediation Works To Ensure They Are Safe To Be Occupied

Works will take place on 22 schools in total
The schools were built by Western Building Systems and were the subject of detailed investigations in recent months after structural faults were identified at the end of last year
The Cork school are Scoil Phadraig Naofa, Rochestown, Gaelscoil Vic-Heel Ui Choileáin Clonakilty, Cara Junior School, Carrigaline Educate Together National School and St Colman's Boys National School Macroom
Last November a number of safety measures including fencing and protective decking was installed with further work to be completed in the coming months to ensure the buildings are safe for students and staff
Western Building Systems has insisted that the Department certified its work for completion as being 'free from defects'.
