9 million pints of unsold Heineken repurposed to create enough electricity to power 48,000 homes for a day

There has also been a reduction in Co2 emission at the Cork City brewery
According to the company's environmental report, over 5,000 tonnes of beer were collected from pubs across Ireland and sent to anaerobic digestion plants to create 480 kilowatts of electricity.
The Dutch beer giant also reports a 33 per cent drop in overall Co2 emissions, due to a decrease in keg deliveries and lower production volumes at its brewery in Cork City.
