A Cork Man In His 60's In Critical Condition After He Was Struck By A Car In Malta
67 year old David Cooley from Youghal is in a critical but stable condition in hospital
RedFM News has learned that David had been returning for an evening meal with his wife and another couple, who they are holidaying with, in the early hours of the morning when the driver of a Smart car, lost control as it drove up Windsor Street and hit the Cork man.
He was rushed by ambulance to a local hospital where he is currently in an induced coma.
The driver of the car, a local man in his 30's was taken to a police station following the collision where it's reported that he failed a breathalyser test.
The family have contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs and are due to hold a meeting with embassy officials this afternoon to get some support from the consulate.
