A Cork TD Says SouthDoc In Blackpool Must Reopen

Deputy Thomas Gould was speaking today on the day the clinic was meant to reopen after months of campaigning

The Health Minister Stephen Donnelly confirmed less than a week ago that the out-of-hours GP service would open today, however on Friday SouthDoc said they were forced to cancel that plan due to a recent spike in cases of Covid-19.

Speaking to RedFM News, Sinn Fein TD Thomas Gould says he has contacted the Taoiseach, The HSE and SouthDoc:

'People have contacted me over the weekend. Firstly people were very happy when they heard the news that SouthDoc would reopen because it's really needed, it's a vital facility. Then when the news broke on Friday evening that it wasn't going to be opened, there was a lot of anger, people were disappointed and even betrayed. I certainly will be doing everything in my power to raise this with the Minister and the Taoiseach in the Dail. But I've also written to them all today because we have to get SouthDoc Blackpool open.'
