It's emerged that a faction of the Reserve Defence Forces in Cork were dismissed in recent weeks after being posted to a 'non-effective' list.
The posting usually only takes place when a member hasn't been attending training, however all the members posted on the list had been very active.
It's been branded a targeted attempt to reduce the number of serving active reservists in Cork and the Reserve Defence Forces Representative Association says its typical of an ongoing trend.
The group says the number of applicants for the Reserve Defence Forces has increased but the numbers are dwindling because the permanent defence forces are not properly facilitating reserve recruitment.
Speaking to RedFM News Neil Richardson of the Reserve Defence Forces Representative Association says what happened in Cork is worrying:
