A Former Lord Mayor Of Cork Is One Of Two New Irish MEPS From Today

Deirdre Clune was Lord Mayor from 2005 to 2006

She also served as a Senator for the Cultural and Educational Panel and as a TD for the Cork South-Central constituency.

Barry Andrews was elected in Dublin in May 2019 and he will also take his seat today. 

It follows the withdrawal of the UK which officially happened last night.

The 27 British MEP seats were distributed across member states with Ireland benefitting with two representatives.
