A Former Resident Of A Cork Direct Provision Centre Is Calling For Public Support

They are planning a protest in the city this weekend

The demonstration is to take place at Daunt Square this Saturday, from 1pm to highlight the need for an end to the system of Direct Provision and also to call for an end to deportations.

It follows comments by TD Noel Grealish who made reference to 'economic migrants' from Africa who he said come to Ireland to "sponge off the system”. 

Meanwhile Cork TD Michael Collins has also spoken out in recent days about the ability of the State to re-house people in Direct Provision.

Noma Maye is a former resident of a Millstreet Direct Provision Centre and she told RedFM News that people need to speak out about the difficulties faced by residents in Direct Provision:
