A Garda In The City Was Out Of Work For Over Half The Year After Being Attacked On Duty

The officer was among 27 Gardaí who were assaulted in the City and County last year.
Two of the ten Gardaí attacked in the West Cork division missed between three and six months while seven officers were injured in North Cork.
162 officers missed as least a day of work because of an attack, with 19 Gardaí across the country sustaining bone fractures during the course of their work.
Jim Mulligan, the president of the Garda Representative Association, says officers need body cameras to protect themselves:
