A Man has died in a plane crash in Co. Waterford.

The remains of a pilot killed in plane crash in Waterford have been removed from the scene.

Howard Cox aged 27 from Devon in England, was the sole occupant of the BD5 micro jet when it came down in Clonea Upper, almost two miles west of Stradbally at about 6.50 on yesterday evening. 

He was travelling to Shannon Airport to take part in the Foynes Air show when the crash occurred. 

The Foynes Air Show will go ahead today - at the request of Howard Cox's family.

The event - to which thousands are expected to go - is now being dedicated to his memory.

Gardaí are preserving the scene pending an examination by the air accident investigation unit.
