A Review Of Student Nurses' Allowances Is Underway
That's according to the Tanaiste
Any recommendations made by the review will be implemented in September next year.
It was revealed today student nurses, who lost jobs due to Covid, would be allowed to claim PUP payments from the date the employment ended.
Last night the government voted against an opposition motion on restoring pay to students on placement during the pandemic.
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says that issue is being examined:
'It is a matter that is being considered. A full review of student allowances is underway. It will be completed shortly. There will be discussions, and any changes will come into effect in September 2021.'
