Abtran responds to Irish Water deal concerns

The deal between the two was raised at Leaders Questions last week.
Abtran has reacted to concerns raised about how it was awarded the contract to run Irish Water’s call centre.
Social Democrats TD Catherine Murphy raised the issue at Leaders Questions last week via a Freedom of Information request which showed that the Cork based company made informal inquiries with then-minister Phil Hogan before being awarded the contract.
She also questioned Abtran's performance on the SUSI scheme and the property tax scheme and whether or not the company met the good service history criteria required for the Irish Water contract.
However speaking to Cork's RedFM Chief Executive of Abtran Michael Fitzgerald says the awarding of the contract to the company was above board and in line with public sector procurement guidelines.
