Agriculture Minister Not Expected To Travel To Bandon To Meet Farmers

Normal operations have resumed at the ABP Plant in Bandon after an earlier protest by farmers

Normal operations have resumed at the ABP plant in Bandon after farmers mounted a protest outside the factory last night and this morning

Trucks were blocked accessing the plant for a time this morning however once gardai were called to the scene these trucks were given access to the plant

Farmers are continuing to appeal to the Agriculture Minister Michael Creed to travel to Bandon today to meet with them so they can discuss what they say is a crisis in the beef market. The Minister is at Mahon Industrial Estate today to officially open Jacobs new Cork office and unveil 200 new jobs and is not expected to travel to West Cork to meet farmers, despite their request

A small number of farmers are maintaining a presence outside the ABP plant  despite the High Court granting an injunction against farmers doing so outside a number of beef factories after action was taken by Dawn Meats and ABP.

Farmers in West Cork say the Agriculture Minister owes them a visit and needs to listen to their concerns
