An International Maritime Expert Has Delivered A Letter At Garda HQ This Afternoon

He is accusing the Department of Transport and the Marine Casualty Investigation Board of Misconduct in public office

It is in respect of current marine tragedy investigations.

Michael Kingston from Goleen in West Cork is taking the action today on the 41st anniversary of the Whiddy Island tanker disaster in which his father Tim died.

He is also spearheading a High Court application in respect of the Whiddy Island disaster, which  will accuse the State of failing to ensure the independence of the Marine Casualty Investigation Boad  contrary to international rules and European law.

He is requesting that a garda invetsigation be launched to probe what he describes as the fundamental and criminal failings of the State in investigating maritime accidents.
