An Post Have A Moral Responsibility To Provide Services In Rural Areas
That's according to East Cork Councillor Michael Hegarty who was reacting to the news that Cloyne post office will close next week.
All post services will move 8 kilometres to Midleton following the retirement of the current post master.
An Post say they advertised the contract for the Post Office three times, however they say no one applied for the role.
It follows the announcement that over 200 jobs will be lost when An Post's Little Island Mail centre closes next year.
Speaking to RedFM News, Cllr Michael Hegarty says he's confident the area can support a post office:
