Angry protesters greet the Taoiseach at the new Events Centre in Cork

Up to 100 angry protesters greeted the Taoiseach Enda Kenny as he tried to gain access to the Events Centre site on South Main Street.. 

The protesters were carrying banners and shouted "Enda Out" as they loudly voiced their opposition to a number issues including eviction, water charges and austerity.

Enda Kenny is due to lead two sod turning ceremonies in the city this afternoon at the €50 million re-development of the Capitol on the Grand Parade and the €50 million Events Centre
