Anti-water charges demonstration Leeside today

It follows the release of Irish Water payment figures.

A demonstration is being held in the city centre calling on Leesiders to boycott water charges.

Anti-water charges campaigners will gather on the SouthGate Bridge and at the Church in Blackpool village for the protest.

It comes after Irish Water last week released payment figures which revealed that 57% of households didn't pay their first bill.

The CEO of Ervia, Irish Water's parent company, also admitted to the MacGill Summer School the utility may not even exist after the General Election.

Speaking to RedFM News organiser of the rally Cllr Mick Barry says support for the campaign continues to grow.
