Architectural Competition For Design Of Flood Barrier For Cork City Receiving World Wide Attention

An architectural competition to design a flood barrier for Cork city is receiving world wide attention.
Entries to the €10,000 competition for Morrisson's Island - have been received from Australia, the US, Quatar as well as from across Europe and Ireland
The competition was devised in response to the OPW's Cork city flood €140 million defence plan - the largest single investment in flood defences in the history of the state
The deadline for submissions to the competition is September 22nd
In the meantime the OPW is examining the 1250 submissions to its public consultation process and hopes to have its responses ready by September
