Armed Gardaí Respond To Situation In Farranree
The area around Farranferris Crescent is on lockdown as a result
Armed gardai and the emergency services have all responded to what neighbours are describing as an ongoing hostage situation in Farranree this morning
Eyewitnesses have told RedFM News that they believe a man has barricaded himself into a house in Farranferris Crescent and is refusing to leave
It's understood the man is in a rental property and early reports from locals indicate that a child is in the house with him
Traffic is flowing but gardai have blocked off access to the estate where up to 50 neighbours have gathered outside anxiously awaiting the outcome of this situation which has been ongoing since around 8 o'clock this morning
This woman has relatives in the estate and she was visiting there this morning but she was unable to gain direct access to the estate
Speaking to RedFM News in the past few minutes she described the scene
