Assaults on Gardai increasing Leeside
The number of assaults on Gardaí in Cork is on the rise.
New figures show the number of assulat on gardaí Leeside has reached 140 in the past six years.
According to the Evening Echo there were 33 assaults on members of the force in Cork - that's up from 14 in 2011.
It's emerged that the majority of these attacks were against male Gardaí.
The problem is being blamed on Garda numbers with the Garda Representative Association saying there are too few members of the force to police the country properly.
