ASTI welcome Education Minister's acknowledgment of concerns on pay equality

However, they say strike action is still on the table.

Richard Bruton addressed delegates at the annual teacher conference in Cork yesterday and was heckled several times during his speech.

The Minister's speech came in the wake of an overwhelming vote by ASTI members in favour of a ballot on industrial action if the government fail to fully engage to resolve the issue.

Speaking to RedFM News, Deputy General Secretary of the ASTI Diarmuid de Paor says the three teacher unions have now agreed that strike action is an option.
