At least 43 people have died in a forest fire in Portugal

Many of the victims were trapped in their cars as they tried to escape the blaze

It happened in a mountainous region in the centre of the country around 150 kilometres northeast of Lisbon.

Officials say 20 others have been injured, including six firefighters.

Portugese Prime Minister Antonio Costa says it's the biggest tragedy of human life Portugal has seen in years.
