Audit Into Drink Driving Checkpoints Underway

An audit is underway into the operation of drink driving checkpoints.
According to the Irish Times, it was prompted by a discrepancy between the number of breath tests recorded on the Pulse system, and the number of mouthpieces being ordered for the operations.
Every test uses a new disposable mouthpiece to prevent contamination from another person and for hygiene reasons.
A senior Garda has told the paper that errors are possible when data is being entered on the Pulse system and there's no evidence of a sinister motive being behind the differing figures.
