Kimberly O'Connor was killed in a car crash on February 19th 2020

The aunt of a 16-year-old teenager who lost her life in a car crash last year has called on the City Council to install speed ramps on Harbour View Rd in Knocknaheeny where her niece died.

Kimberly O'Connor was killed in a car crash on February 19th last year just 50 metres away from her home.

Yesterday 17-year-old Daniel Wyse of Killiney Heights in Knocknaheeny received a four year sentence and a 15-year driving disqualification after he pleaded gulity to dangerous driving causing the death of the 16-year-old who was in the car he was driving as well as causing serious bodily harm to another male passenger.

The court heard the car he was driving was travelling at a minimum speed of 119 km an hour in a 50 km zone at the time of the crash.

In her victim impact statement Kimberly's mother Jennifer Haynes said should would never be able to come to terms with her child's death.

Kimberly's aunt Valerie Haynes was among those to launch a campaign in the wake of her death to get traffic calming measures installed in the area.

She told RedFM News they'll continue with their campaign after lockdown as something has to be done to slow traffic down in the area, and she says doesn't want anyone else going through what her family have had to:
