Average rent paid across the country now €1056
However the average rent being paid in County Cork is just below this at €1026.
It represents an almost 10 percent increase over the last year and coincides with the publication of homeless figures which show a record high for the numbers in emergency accommodation.
Capuchin Day Centre Co-Director, Fr. Sean Donohue says statistics is one thing but they deal with people.
He's urging people to consider what it's really like for homeless families.
