The average weekly cost of childcare in Cork is €196 euro
New figures released by the Department of Children show that nationally full-time fees increased by more than three-and-a-half per cent since last year.
Parents in parts of Dublin are paying up to 70 percent more for childcare than those in rural areas with childcare costs in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown are around 250 euro per week - the most expensive in the country .
Parents in Carlow meanwhile are paying around 100 euro less than that.
Frances Byrne from Early Childhood Ireland says investment in childcare here is among the worst in Europe:
