A new survey from the Irish League of Credit Unions shows that just over a third of people say they'll have to sacrifice spending on family holidays to meet the costs.
There's also been an increase in the numbers turning to moneylenders to buy things like shoes and books.
Paul Bailey from the Irish League of Credit Unions says parents are also under pressure to keep up to date with the latest trend.
