Ballincollig Based Councillor Colm Kelliher Elected As New Lord Mayor Of Cork City

Last night's Cork City Council AGM saw, for the first time ever, the election being held outside of City Hall, as it is used for the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination programme.

"Instead of the traditional setting of the Council Chamber at City Hall, the AGM was held in Coláiste Choilm in Ballincollig.
Lord Mayor Kelliher is a past pupil of the school, a Fianna Fail member and business owner.
He won the vote by 21 to 7.
In his maiden speech as Lord Mayor, he said his priorities for the year include leading the recovery of the city's economy by building on the momentum of the past year, and delivering further housing for Cork City.
Cllr Mary Rose Desmond was elected as Deputy Lord Mayor.
