Bandon Locals Welcome Flood Defence Contract

Up to 400 properties in Bandon are set to benefit following the announcement of a €11 million flood defence contract.
Locals have welcomed the development, and say it's a significant milestone.
The contract will include dredging the Bandon River, repair to the pedestrian bridge, and construction of new flood defence walls.
Bandon has been repeatedly hit by floods in recent years, and locals have fought a long campaign to secure the necessary flood defences for the market town.
Speaking to RedFM News Gillian Powell from the Bandon Flood Group says it has been a very difficult campaign but residents in Bandon will now push for the completion of the work:
