Bank of Ireland introduces new charges
Bank of Ireland is introducing new charges for its customers. The cost of lodging a cheque is to rise by 40 percent, while a new quarterly charge of 5 euro will be introduced from August. There are fears that other banks will follow. Charlie Weston is personal finance editor with the Irish Independent. He says even those who previously qualified for free banking will be charged maintenance fees:
