Batten down the hatches as a very serious weather event is on the way

That's the message from Cork County Council who say significant rainfall and high winds are expected in coming hours as Cork remains under a red weather warning.
The local authority's response crews have been put on notice and are on standby to deal with any damage caused by Storm Ellen.
The advise is to stay indoors from 9pm, avoid unnecessary journeys, and secure all loose items outside such as wheelie bins.
Senior County Engineer Aidan Wier told RedFM News the warnings should be taken very seriously:
Meanwhile Cork City Council have issued a tidal flooding alert.
The local authority say they're preparing to address any damage that might result from the severe winds and emergency crews are on standby.
The City Council are also asking that all construction sites are made secure in advance of high winds, including plant, materials and fencing.
Elsewhere Met Eireann is warning that its status red wind warning that has been issued for us here in Cork may be upgraded to include more counties.
The alert is due to start at 9pm tonight as Storm Ellen tracks over Ireland, and is set to remain in place until midnight.
Other counties in Munster will be under an orange alert until the morning, while a status yellow wind alert has been issued for the rest of the country:
Met Eireann forecaster Gerry Murphy says they will be monitoring the situation throughout the day:
In response to the RED weather warning Bus Éireann has temporarily suspended a number of Expressway services and some services in Cork City & County will also be temporarily suspended. More details can be found @buseireann on Twitter for live updates
Elsewhere UCC Mardyke Sports Grounds and Curraheen Sports Grounds will close tonight at 6.00pm in line with UCC directive due to Red weather warning for this evening and CIT Campuses will close this evening at 6pm.
