Beechfield Estate Update: Injunction hearing to remove mobile home adjourned until Friday

It has been confirmed to RedFM News that an injunction hearing in relation to the removal of a mobile home from Beechfield Estate in Fermoy was heard in the Circuit Court today but has been adjourned.

The case is due to be heard on Friday 22nd.

Residents in the estate mounted a protest last Thursday when a crane delivered a mobile home next to a caravan which had been there for the past two years.  They say it's a step too far and they fear it will lead to other mobile homes locating in the estate. The crane is currently being blocked in by the residents and they say they won't lift the blockade until the mobile home is removed.

Speaking to RedFM News local resident David say they want an end to the situation soon:

However the family living in the mobile home say if they didn't install it they would be homeless.

Emma O'Driscoll says she, her partner and their three children - all under the age of five - have been on a waiting list for a house for years and they're on the brink of homelessness.

Speaking to RedFM News Emma says she can't move the mobile home until the County Council provide an alternative accommodation solution for them:

This afternoon Cork County Council issued a statement to RedFM News and stated that while it does not comment on the circumstances of individual housing applicants, it is examining the options available to it in relation to resolving the issues that have arisen in Beechfield Estate.
