Bessborough Report To Be Referred To The Gardai

The report was unable to establish where 900 children who died at Bessborough were buried

Last week's interim report by the Commission of Investigation into the burial arrangements at the Bessborough mother and baby home is to be referred to the Gardai

The report was unable to establish where 900 children who died at Bessborough were buried and the Commission found it hard to understand how no member of the congregation was able to say where the children were laid to rest

The Irish Examiner reports today that Gardai will examine the report to see if any of the issues raised warrant criminal investigation.

Last week Carmel Cantwell spoke to RedFM News after the report focused on the the detail of her baby brother's death in the home in December 1960
Carmel's mother was told that Baby William was buried in the grounds of Bessborough but the report indicates that he was never laid to rest there and his final resting place is at a Famine Grave at Carr's Hill..

Speaking to RedFM News Carmel says the Children's Minister must leave no stone unturned in tracing the whereabouts of all of the children who died at Bessborough
