Blackpool residents fear new town may threaten ongoing flood prevention works.

Fears are high that the proposed development of a town in Monard will threaten ongoing flood prevention works in Blackpool.
The Blackpool Flood Action Group has raised their concerns with the County Council in relation to the water flow from the roads that will be built to accomodate Monard,
and say it will end up draining into the Bride River which flows through Blackpool.
Locals in the town which have had their homes and businesses destroyed by flooding in recent years says they can't understand how the plans for the new town have been formulated without any consultation with the Office of Public Works..
Speaking to RedFM News Ger Buckley of the Irish National Flood Forum says he fears the OPW plans on flood relief for the village will be totally negated by the construction of the new town.
