Bord Pleanala Oral Hearing On The Proposed M28 Motorway Continues

There has been strong objections from locals to the €180 million Cork-Ringaskiddy motorway
Locals, the M28 Steering Group and stakeholders in the proposed €180 million Cork-Ringaskiddy motorway have been addressing a Bord Pleanala oral hearing on the proposed project
The M28 Steering Group, which represents up to 10,000 residents in Rochestown and Douglas, are calling for an alternative route to be found as they say the current plans will lead to an increase in traffic volumes, air and noise pollution and will have a detrimental impact on the quality of life for residents in the area.
200 people attended yesterdays session of the hearing and heard from IBEC who say the motorway is vital to the expansion of the Port of Cork container facility at Ringaskiddy while the City Council says it would be an economic enabler for further growth in the region..
The engineering and financial viability of the project will be addressed at today's session of the oral hearing
