Bowel cancer awareness week calls for people to avail of screening

Over 300 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in Cork.

The figures have been released as part of the Irish Cancer Society's bowel cancer awareness campaign.

The charity says information on bowel cancer continues to be the most sought after information by the public on its website.

Around 1,000 people die from the disease every year, making it the second most common cause of cancer death in Ireland.
