Boy (4) rushed to hospital after road traffic incident in Farranree

A child has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in a road traffic incident on the Northside of the city shortly before 3pm.

It's understood the boy, who is four-years-old, has sustained serious injuries and is being treated in to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have confirmed to RedFM News that they are at the scene of a road traffic collision that occurred at approximately 2.45pm on Knockpogue Avenue, Farranree.

An investigation has been launched and roads are closed with diversions in place.
