Bus Driver Assaulted and Robbed At Silversprings Last Night
The incident happened on the 208 route as the driver pulled in at the Ashmount stop at 11.40pm
A bus driver was injured and left badly shaken after he was assaulted and robbed by a lone raider in the city last night
The incident happened on the 208 route as the driver pulled in at the Ashmount stop in Silversprings shortly after 11.30pm to allow a passenger get on board..
As soon as the he got on board he began attacking the driver and made off with the day's takings
The bus driver managed to drive to the next bus stop where he left the passengers on board off the bus and he drove to Mayfield Garda Station where he reported the assault and robbery to gardai.
He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he was treated for his injuries before being later discharged but it's understood the man was badly shaken by the attack.
Supt Mick Comyns of Mayfield Gardai is leading the investigation into the attack and speaking to RedFM News he is urgin anyone who was on the bus last night to contact them
