Business Associations Call For M8 To Connect Cork And Limerick Instead Of Dedicated Motorway

Two local business associations in North Cork have written to politicians outlining their opposition to the proposed M20 between Cork and Limerick
The motorway has long been discussed and plans were shelved for the best part of a decade with the cost estimated to be more than 2 billion euro.
Chairman of Fermoy Forum, Michael Lyons, told RedFM News that it's time other options on how to link the two cities were explored:
"Maybe there was a time when this was a suitable approach, but as time has gone on, and as the project has been kicked back, they do have to pause and relook at this. The volume of traffic on our roads has shifted. And how these major cities are linked, I think, needs to be rethought."
